In a bold step Amber Development Authority decided to house an art gallery in the verandas of Amber Palace-between Janani Dyori and Bhool Bhoolaiya.These verandas were renovated according to the Archaeological rules and restored to the condition as they were in the ancient times.The bats had to go!Spread out in 5000 Sq. ft. it exhibits up to 2500 paintings in different sections.The prices range from Rs.5000 to 20 lacs. Some 225 young and seasoned artists will find representation here.
Ms.Sangeeta Juneja of Juneja Art gallery,on M.I.Road,an art gallery proprietor of 14 years standing was made the director.She decided to name the Gallery as ARTCHILL ( 01412530015) Open 9 am to pm everyday.A share of the sale proceeds goes to the state government.
According to the people in the know Jaipur does yearly business of 30 crores from paintings due to the fact that tourists are a major buying force. Though young professional with good salary packages are also big buyers. They prefer realistic or rajasthani paintings.Though modern art paintings are in demand too.Architects and interior decorators also buy paintings to decorate whatever project they are doing.People also buy them as gifts.
